Spring Training Camp 2017: Tampa, FL | |

Now that the New Year is upon us and the weather is getting warmer, it's time to grab that paddle and hit the water! Dust off your gear, PDFs and seat pad and come join us at the High Five Spring Training Camp April 9-15, 2017.
We are pleased to host the spring training camps for Premier Mixed, and the Senior B classes at our camp in April. We welcome Peter McNamara and Pat Barker and their paddlers to Tampa! If you’re a Premier Open or Senior B hopeful, contact us for details on how you can improve your skills with the help of the nation’s best coaches!
Learn advanced paddling and coaching techniques that will improve your team’s performance on the water. Coach McNamara makes sure each paddler gets the individual time needed to make your 2017 paddling season a success! Whether you are a brand new paddler or an experienced paddler aspiring to one day make the national team, now is your chance to demonstrate and improve on your abilities in this critical World Championship year!
The camp concludes with High Five’s next Gulf Coast Mini Dragon Boat Series race event at Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs. This annual event is going international this year, with world class paddlers from Florida spring training camps from the United States and Canada expected to compete. See below for more information. If you want to take yourself, or your club, to the next level, these camps will help make 2017 (and every year) a CHAMPIONSHIP year!

Meet Mat and Pana Stone. This dragon boat couple met training for a festival in 2014. The dynamic duo works for Fidelity Investments and were nominated as team captains for two different boats. After exchanging long glances after practices, Mat mustered up the nerve to talk to Pana and less than a year later, the couple was married and saluted under a bridge of paddles at their Florida wedding. | |

Last month we highlighted an issue on the USDBF (click here to read). The USDBF has recently come to a decision regarding the status of Robert McNamara, who was banned from coaching the US National team. It reads: “The USDBF and Coach Robert McNamara have reached an amicable resolution. Coach McNamara has been reinstated as Premier Open Coach for 2017. The USBDF will appoint another coach to the Premier Mixed team for this cycle. The parties believe that this resolution will move the USA team forward in a positive direction.”
