Brad Rathgeber Schools are experiencing more change this year than some have experienced in the past two decades. Yes, most of these changes are out of necessity... but many have also had (and continue to have) a positive impact on students, faculty, and schools. In trying new things this year, many schools discovered that they had more flexibility than they possibly even knew they had. So, that's our focus this week at One Schoolhouse--what do we keep and what do we return to? Liz's blog is on staying flexible in the next normal; the pulse survey asks you about some of the major changes you've made this year; and our Wednesday webinar will focus on what we're doing new in 21/22 to help support schools and students. Question of the week: In what areas have you made major changes this year? Taking the Pulse: Flash Survey Liz Katz We Need to Build for Resilience When One Schoolhouse got ready to launch our 2020-2021 course offerings, we had no idea how the school year would be turned upside down. Of course, we don’t know how different they’ll be, or what timeline we can expect, or how our communities will be transformed. One thing this pandemic has hammered home to me is that the patterns I plan for in schools are only expectations, barely predictions and certainly not promises. Without those patterns, though, it’s hard to figure out where to start. At One Schoolhouse, we’ve made the decision to start by building for resilience--the ability to respond to challenges and find solutions. As we get ready to roll out our 2021-2022 offerings in January, we’ve chosen three places to focus. Read more. Our 2021-2022 school year and 2021 summer course catalogs will be released right at the beginning of the new year. Look for new language courses, additional semester & summer offerings, and an expanded strand of identity-centered courses. Stay tuned! Join us on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 12noon ET for our last academic leaders webinar of 2020 for a conversation with Corinne Dedini, Assistant Head of School for Academics, and Liz Katz, Assistant Head of School for School Partnerships, on next year's student course offerings and how we're looking to building community online.
