Healing Day of Remembrance

An all-ages event created by youth to honor our community’s losses and recovery from the Table Mesa (King Soopers) tragedy last March 2021

Growing Up Boulder invites all ages in the community to a youth-led “healing” event - the Healing Day of Remembrance - to mark one year since the March 2021 Table Mesa tragedy at King Soopers (#boulderstrong). Please join us on tomorrow - Saturday,  April 2 - from 10am to noon at Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMOCA). Organized by Boulder’s Youth Leadership Healing Committee (YLHC), this event will offer opportunities for community members of all ages to heal from this tragedy through art, poetry, massage, acudetox, music, community connection, and more.

The YLHC is composed of diverse, dedicated high school students. Over the last two months, these students have brought a full range of emotions, perspectives, ideas and energy to planning this event. Their commitment to our community’s resilience is reflected in the meaningful set of activities available to anyone in need of healing from this painful tragedy.

Growing Up Boulder's Vision and Mission

Using participatory planning methods with young people, Growing Up Boulder's vision is to lead a global movement in child-friendly cities, resulting in better communities for all. Growing Up Boulder's mission is to empower young people with opportunities for inclusion, influence, and deliberation on local issues that affect their lives.

Boulder's Child-Friendly and Teen-Friendly

City Maps

In 2019, Growing Up Boulder embarked upon a year-long journey to co-create the nation's first, printed, bilingual, child-friendly city map.  We did so with almost 800 children and families, half of whom were from underrepresented populations. In May 2022, we will publish our fourth edition of the map.

Growing Up Boulder's Child- and Teen-Friendly City Maps seek to educate and inspire children, families, and community organizations through the creation of maps co-created with young people and their families to highlight their favorite locations in Boulder. They promote the values of inclusion, diversity, community engagement, collaboration, and celebration
