Creativity has been the buzzword at Escuela this year. Families tell us that the children are sad and miss their friends. They come running up to us on the street looking for a hug and reassurances that Escuela will open soon. We constantly look for ways to keep the children engaged until it is safe to reopen. Our wonderful teachers, Martha and Nancy, continue to create learning kits for each family and teach the mothers and fathers how to use them.  Each Tuesday is LIBRARY DAY, and you can see the excitement as families arrive to exchange books

While families are reading books together, Escuela has partnered with another local organization, Mujeres Movimiento, to develop a summer program Ingles Divertido. This exciting new initiative originated as a request from the community and is designed to teach English Language to children aged 6-11 who do not have the opportunity to learn English in school. Our local staff of six is bilingual, and the five-week camp will be a  total immersion program taught through activities like music, art, dance and sports. We interviewed each family to confirm their involvement and support. If you would like to sponsor a child for $450, please visit our website and click on donations. Make a note to direct your donation to Ingles Divertido.

For this story to continue, we need you to share our excitement.

During this time, more than ever, we need your support. Our families  and teachers continue to strengthen the cooperative nature of our school while they also struggle with personal challenges brought on by the pandemic. We welcomed seven new children from our waiting list and are now serving 26 families. Most pay no tuition, yet it costs $1500 a year to educate one child. We hope you will join us by sponsoring a child. Our tuition-free school is only possible through individuals like you who believe that early access to education is the key to lifelong learning. Please click below to help us keep our promise to these children and their families.
