Tom's Pantry for the week of august 9th 2020.

Baking and delivering this week!

Hello Folks. 

I assembled a baking schedule on my website: http://www.tomspantry.ca/.

I will bake this Wednesday August 12th for pick up at my home on Wednesday evening.

I will attend the Parkdale Farmers Market in Ottawa this Thursday August 13th from 9am to about 2pm, or until I sell out. The market is now open for pre-orders and for public browsing.

I will deliver to homes on my trip on Thursday to Ottawa. I will deliver in the early morning in Crysler, Limoges, and the east part of Ottawa while going into town. At the end of the day, I will deliver in Ottawa and points on my way home: Metcalfe, Russell, Embrun, Winchester, Inkerman, Chesterville.

I need your order please by Tuesday evening 8pm in order to prepare enough levain overnight. See the product descriptions and ordering considerations here. And then, view the price list and order online with Local Line

Next week, Saturday August 22th, I will be at the Vankleek Hill Farmers Market and I will perform home deliveries on that route and towards Cornwall.

There is a minimum order of two loaves for a home delivery on a scheduled route.

Wow, what a week!

My bread sales reached a record this past week at the Vankleek Hill Farmers Market​. The market enjoyed great attendance, a steady flow of people. All the vendors benefited. 

Baking day on Friday was a long day, 6am to 8pm by the time I finished cleaning up. I made 53 loaves that day, plus my 5 non-gluten loaves and 4 dozen butter tarts that I made the day before.

'Tis the season...!

For garlic.... The garlic crop is in, and it looks great. You can find fresh local garlic at most farmers markets. And consider looking for organic garlic.

Talk to my friends Evodie and Jonathan Smith at Paperboat Farms in Newington for great organic garlic, but do not delay because they are selling out quickly. 

What do we do with garlic? We make bread! I include some garlic in my organic black olive bread on organic whole wheat flour. I am also learning to make sourdough Focaccia with fresh garlic, and sourdough Fougasse with garlic. You will find these treasures in my product lineup in the coming weeks.

The 6th Annual Eastern Ontario Garlic Festival is back in Cornwall on Sunday Aug 30th. Get your tickets on Eventbrite.

The Eastern Ontario Garlic Festival is a showcase of all things local. Come from yonder and close by to enjoy a day filled with music, workshops, food & drink, community art, and games hosted by community partners. Garlic and Farmer Market producers will be featured from across the region.

Tom's Pantry will have a table with great bread featuring garlic Focaccia, garlic Fougasse, garlic black olive bread, and several others.
