Aloha Sacred Hearts School 'Ohana,

Welcome back to the start of the new second half of the school year. We have been working to ensure the safety, health, and wellbeing of students, faculty, staff, and families since the reopening in the Fall of 2020.

Please note the following changes in compliance with the updated CDC guidelines. A cohort/'ohana bubble with two or more positive cases will go into isolation/quarantine for five days. Students can return to school ONLY if they do not have any of the following symptoms, and a doctor's note is required for an excused absence:

Fever

Chills

New Cough

Sore throat

Headache

Runny or stuffy nose

Shortness of breath

Vomiting

Diarrhea

Skin rash

Loss of taste or smell

Muscle ache

Chest pain or pressure

Infected with Covid-19: Isolate for five days or until asymptomatic and without fever for 24 hours. A doctor's note is required for an excused absence.

Exposed (close contact) to Covid-19: Individuals vaccinated, including booster or within six months of receiving Moderna or Pfizer or within two months of receiving J&J: Monitor for symptoms; no quarantine needed. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of a person with Covid-19 for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (regardless of mask use).

Unvaccinated individuals or those more than six months out of receiving Moderna or Pfizer or more than two months out of receiving J&J without booster: Monitor for symptoms, five days quarantine required. A doctor's note is required for an excused absence.

Chronic (non-Covid) Illness: Remain at home until symptoms clear. A doctor's note is required for an excused absence.

If we experience a shortage in faculty/staff (see Learning Plan), we will consider distanced learning/hybrid schedules and do our best to notify you ahead of time. Please continue to adhere to travel restrictions based on the state's Safe Travels Program.

The Diocese of Honolulu is not mandating vaccines for children at this time. Therefore, because there is no requirement for vaccination and an option for testing, there will be no need for religious or medical exemptions for the vaccine. The Diocese of Honolulu encourages but is not mandating vaccines for employees at this time. This federal mandate allows weekly testing for those not fully vaccinated beginning January 10th, 2022.

Sacred Hearts School adheres to CDC and DOH masking, distancing, handwashing, sanitizing, and cohort/'ohana bubble guidelines. Download and review the covid safety documents below.

Please continue to pray for the safety and success of our Sacred Hearts School 'ohana and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely in Christ,

Tonata Lolesio
