In the studio I have been planning for exhibition opportunities and finalizing a new series of paintings. These new pieces are in response to the current situation we are in, where the future is fuzzy and undefined. The work at the beginning of lockdown was about repetition and accumulation. This morphed into paintings of an imaginary field I can’t cross. It then led to exploring atmospheric and uncertain destinations that I want to go to, but I can’t find, or see the way. On Valentine’s Day two friends sent me pictures of bouquets coordinating with pieces of mine that they own. In all the years I have been painting flowers I have never had that happen. | |
There is always some kind of creative experiment going on in the studio. I have been investigating different ways to keep a sketchbook, cutting up failed work and reassembling it into collage, weaving and making small sculptures.
